Betting on underdogs in football matches
Arsenal hosts PSV at the Emirates in a second leg from the Champions League 1/8-finals. The Gunners are already looking at the 1/4-finals after a stunning 7-1 win in the first leg in Eindhoven. Let’s preview this second leg in our Betting on underdogs in football matches.
Probably no one expected that Arsenal would score seven goals against PSV on Dutch soil, but it happened. Mikel Arteta’s team made a memorable performance at the Philips Stadion. Martin Odegaard scored a brace for his team while Timber, Nwaneri, Mikel Merino, Trossard and Calafiori all scored for Arsenal as well.
We could say that Arsenal can’t do much better than this – they already created their masterpiece in the Champions League for the 2024/25 season. Now the club’s fans are dreaming of reaching the first Champions League final since 2006. With performances like that, Arsenal surely look like a contender for the title.
It’d be curious to see what kind of a line-up Arteta will choose for the second leg. Will he put his best team on the pitch? Or maybe he will trust some players such as Raheem Sterling, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jorginho?
PSV are playing for their own reputation here. The Dutch team had to accept one of the biggest humiliations in their history. Conceding seven goals at home is just awful – there’s no doubt about that.
Noa Lang scored PSV’s only goal in the first match, but obviously it was far from enough. Now PSV’s coach Peter Bosz has to prepare his team mentally for the second leg. A second consecutive humiliation would be too much for the Dutch giants. They simply can’t allow it.
That’s the Betting on underdogs in football matches for the Champions League 1/8-finals clash between Arsenal and PSV. Is this going to be a second consecutive win for the Gunners? Let’s see.
